Baglung
Nepal Travel Destination

The Nepal travel destination of Baglung is located in the hilly area to the west of Pokhara and is the headquarters of the Dhaulagiri Zone. The town sits on a terrace overlooking the famous Kali Gandaki river. The river is famous for notorious bends, deep gorges and is in fact situated at the deepest gorge in the world.

Baglung is a trading town with quaint streets and traditional buildings and is a central meeting place where merchants from the south traveling from the Terai plains and the people living to the north in the hills, travel to barter their goods. Like most of Nepal, Baglung has a variety of Nepal’s different ethnic groups living in the area.

Many people agree that from Baglung, you can see the best view of Mount Dhaulagiri to the north. The town is conveniently connected to Pokhara via paved road making travel to this Nepal destination a breeze. On the way to Baglung, which is 72 kilometers out of Pokhara, you can relax and enjoy the stunning views of the magnificent Annapurna Himal Range.

For those wanting to do a little trekking and camping while possibly hunting, Baglung is also an ideal starting point for a trip to the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. The trekking from Baglung Bazaar to the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve will take about four days of travel.

For the travelers looking for alternative views of the Mt. Dhaulagiri or Annapurna Range, there are bus services daily that are available from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Baglung.  From Pokhara travel by bus should be around 3 hours and the nearest Airport is located in Pokhara.
